Volvo has revealed the 2027 EX60, its compact premium electric SUV that slots below the larger EX90. The new model maintains Volvo's clean Scandinavian design language with a simplified front end, LED light signature, and flush door handles typical of modern EVs.

The EX60 sits on Volvo's modular SPA2 platform, which underpins several upcoming electric models across the Volvo and Polestar lineups. Dimensionally, the EX60 measures roughly 4,600mm in length, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, BMW iX2, and Genesis GV60. The vehicle features a sloped roofline that tapers toward the rear, a design choice that balances aerodynamic efficiency with cargo space for the three-row SUV segment.

Volvo's design philosophy emphasizes minimalism. The front fascia ditches traditional grille elements in favor of a closed panel, while the headlights integrate into a horizontal light bar. The side profile shows a pronounced shoulder line running the length of the vehicle, and 20-inch alloy wheels come standard on the 2027 model. The rear end carries Volvo's signature vertical taillights connected by a thin light strip across the tailgate.

The EX60 represents Volvo's strategy to offer premium electric vehicles at accessible price points. The compact SUV segment remains highly competitive, with established players like Tesla dominating sales while traditional automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo itself rush to electrify their lineups. Volvo expects the EX60 to appeal to buyers seeking Scandinavian design quality and technology without the premium pricing of larger flagship models.

Volvo has not yet released powertrain specifications or pricing for the 2027
