Waymo selected the Toyota bZ4X as its next robotaxi vehicle. Toyota will manufacture a custom version of the electric SUV with Waymo Driver technology integrated during production in Japan. A test fleet will begin operating in Japan in 2027. This marks the first vehicle to emerge from Waymo and Toyota's partnership announced last year. The bZ4X will serve Waymo's Tokyo launch, with expansion planned to the UK and other markets.
