Mercedes-Benz previewed two window display technologies on Tuesday. The first, called Intelligent Display in Glass, embeds LED elements directly into vehicle windows. The rear window could display warning symbols or traffic information to alert drivers behind you, such as icons for car accidents, pedestrian crossings, or text reading "KEEP DISTANCE." Mercedes is evaluating Mini LEDs for larger rear-window displays and Micro LEDs for smaller side-window areas, where they can show animations like battery charge status or farewell messages. When inactive, Mercedes says the display elements "remain almost invisible."

The second technology is a Holographic Display that projects content onto a special windshield film using a projector in the instrument panel. The display works at specific viewing angles so the driver sees navigation information while a passenger can watch a film on the same windshield. Mercedes says the projection resembles home theater imagery with full color and sharp images.

Mercedes emphasized that both technologies are under development and demonstrate potential future approaches. None are expected in production vehicles soon.
