Porsche announced Tuesday that its new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system will deliver up to five times more computing power than the previous generation. The upgraded hardware brings faster startup times, shorter loading times, and smoother multitasking across the 911, Taycan, Panamera, and Cayenne models.

The new PCM introduces Porsche Digital Interaction, previously available only on the electric Cayenne, to gasoline, hybrid, and electric versions of these four models. The interface offers five selectable themes, customizable widgets, and a three-dimensional representation of each vehicle's actual exterior color. Drivers can rotate and interact with the virtual car on the display to access certain vehicle settings.

The system features an upgraded AI-powered Voice Pilot built on a large language model. It understands natural speech, answers follow-up questions, and handles multi-step requests for navigation, entertainment, vehicle functions, and compatible applications. Navigation Plus adds three-dimensional maps and real-time traffic information. For electric models, Charging Planner identifies charging stops along a route while accounting for battery preconditioning.

Audio upgrades include Apple Music access through the Porsche App Center and Dolby Atmos spatial audio support on compatible Bose and Burmester sound systems. Porsche also improved smartphone integration and added over-the-air software updates.

Porsche says the new infotainment system will gradually arrive in newly produced vehicles, with availability depending on the model, market, and production date.
