Ryan Montgomery, the founder of Miata-themed lifestyle brand Roadster Republic, created the Roadster Atlas, an interactive 3D model of an NB generation Mazda MX-5 Miata. Montgomery built the model using his 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata as a reference, though it represents the entire NB generation that ran from 1999 to 2005.

The model contains 699 individual parts, from body panels to bolts. The engine breaks down into separate components. Body-off views, exploded views, and click-and-drag functionality let users examine the car from different angles. The model works best on desktop but is viewable on mobile browsers.

The Roadster Atlas shows how parts fit together and function. The engine can rotate on screen, and different suspension settings display how geometry changes. All measurements come from Mazda's published specifications and information from media, community sources, and owners who have disassembled their cars.

Montgomery notes the tool can help owners plan aftermarket upgrades, though it is not meant to replace a shop manual. The Roadster Atlas is free to view without requiring an account or download.

Montgomery plans to render other Miata generations next.
