Rivian's R2 compact SUV is outselling both the R1T pickup and R1S three-row SUV combined, the company confirmed during its third-quarter earnings call. The R2 achievement comes despite Rivian offering only the Performance trim, priced at $59,485. The $55,485 Premium arrives in late 2026, while the $46,485 base model arrives sometime next year.

Rivian posted 19,248 deliveries in the third quarter, a 46 percent year-over-year increase. The company raised its full-year sales projection to between 67,000 and 70,000 vehicles from a previous range of 65,000 to 70,000. Before production started, Rivian announced a target of 20,000 R2 vehicles for the year.

The R2 Performance undercuts the R1T and R1S, which start at $81,885 and $85,885 respectively. Rivian did not provide an exact breakdown of R2 sales volume in the quarter.
