Jeep's 2027 Recon EV pairs a boxy Wrangler-like design with removable doors and an openable roof to an electric powertrain. Dual electric motors produce 670 horsepower and achieve 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, but EPA range lags at 222 miles for the base Moab trim and 240 miles for the new Overland variant. In real-world 75-mph highway testing, the Moab managed only 160 miles.
The Recon uses a pair of permanent-magnet synchronous AC motors, one in the front and one in the rear, delivering 620 pound-feet of combined torque. DC fast charging takes a claimed 28 minutes to reach 80 percent, while Level 2 charging on a 240-volt circuit requires roughly 7 hours. A standard 110-volt household outlet needs up to 52 hours.
The 2027 lineup gains an Overland trim with body-colored fender flares and 20-inch alloy wheels. The model also switches from a CCS connector to a NACS charging port, enabling use of Tesla Superchargers. The 100.5-kWh battery pack powers the standard all-wheel-drive system.
Off-road capability includes an electric locking differential, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, and a Select-Terrain traction management system with rock, sand, and snow modes. Towing capacity tops out at 3,300 pounds with the optional Trailer Tow Group package.
The 14.5-inch infotainment display supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and integrated navigation. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, a 360-degree camera, and parking assist. The interior offers a 3.0-cubic-foot frunk and 30 cubic feet of rear cargo space.
EPA fuel economy for the Moab is rated at 71 MPGe combined (80 city, 62 highway). The Overland's rating remains pending. Observed fuel economy from testing yielded 59 MPGe.
