Dürr installed its 20,000th painting robot at Ford's Valencia plant in Spain in August 2026. The EcoRP4 L033L/R unit applies primer to Ford Kuga bodies on the exterior line.

The fourth-generation EcoRP4 robot uses fewer parts than its predecessor while maintaining process technology to protect finish quality. It can be floor-mounted, tower-mounted, or run on linear rails, giving automakers flexibility in paint shop layouts.

The station emphasizes material efficiency. An EcoMCC3 A/B colour changer and EcoBell4 Pro 2x1K atomiser reduce paint and rinsing-agent losses. A high-transfer process applies more coating per body, cutting overspray, running costs, and volatile organic compound emissions.

Marcus Treppschuh, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing at Dürr, said: "The 20,000th painting robot from Dürr represents decades of experience in automated painting. The fact that this milestone has been reached with one of the first models from our new EcoRP4 generation underlines our commitment to consistently combining innovation and proven technology."

Dürr's painting robots first reached Spain in 1998. The milestone milestone reflects a shift in paint shop supplier competition toward lifecycle cost and material loss reduction alongside output gains.
