Ford built approximately 4.06 million vehicles in 2025, with half produced in the US. Automotive World forecasts that global output will decline and then stabilize at around 3.76 million annually between 2026 and 2028 as the Escape, Corsair, and Focus reach end-of-life and Changan Ford contracts.
US production is projected to fall to 1.88 million in 2027 before climbing to 2.11 million by 2030, supported by new models including the Fathom electric pickup, an all-electric Escape refresh, a Mustang four-door, and expanded Bronco-family offerings. By 2029-30, Bronco variants are expected to include the standard Bronco, Bronco Sport, China-exclusive Bronco New Energy, European Bronco, Bronco pickup, and a Bronco-based Lincoln model. The nameplate could potentially function as a sub-brand similar to Jeep within Stellantis.
Ford's Cologne plant poses a significant challenge. It is forecast to produce less than 30,000 vehicles annually against a capacity of 250,000, raising the likelihood of closure, sale, or partnership arrangements.
