Ford has cast more than 5,000 large aluminum "unicastings" for the Fathom, its upcoming midsize electric pickup priced at $28,350. Each truck uses two of these parts, one front and one rear, replacing 146 individual components per vehicle. Ford is adopting the manufacturing approach Tesla introduced with its Giga Press six years ago. The company is refining the process before the truck launches in 2027.
