Mercedes-AMG revealed the 2027 GT55 and GT63 4-Door Coupes, both all-electric high-performance sedans that charge at rates up to 600 kilowatts. The GT63 produces 1153 horsepower and 1475 pound-feet of torque, achieving an estimated 0-60 mph time of 2.0 seconds. The GT55 generates 805 horsepower. Mercedes claims the GT63 charges from 10 to 80 percent in 11 minutes, and during a demonstration the car still pulled 259 kilowatts at 78 percent state of charge.
Both models use a 106-kWh battery pack with oil cooling borrowed from Formula 1 technology. The cooling loop targets individual cell terminals during charging to prevent damage and keep temperatures within a 9-degree range across the battery. EPA ranges remain TBD but both variants are expected to exceed 300 miles in maximum-range configurations.
The GT63 features hydraulic anti-roll control, air springs with multilink geometries, and rear-axle steer that turns the rear wheels up to 6 degrees. The GT55 uses conventional anti-roll bars. Both models include aramid fiber rope lashed to chassis rails to transfer crash loads and protect the front motor. The GT63 includes a carbon-fiber structural frunk bolted to the chassis that increases front-end torsional rigidity by 35 percent while directing airflow.
The AMG Dynamic Package, standard on the GT63 and optional on the GT55, provides three center-console control knobs labeled Response, Agility, and Traction. These knobs adjust throttle calibration, stability control interaction, torque split, and traction assistance. In town, the GT55 is limited to 557 horsepower and the GT63 to 711, with a boost mode providing full power in 55-second bursts for the GT55 and 63-second bursts for the GT63.
The 2027 GT55 starts at $146,550 and goes on sale later this year. The GT63 pricing was not provided in the report.
