BMW's 2027 3-series is now available to configure on the automaker's consumer website, offering buyers a choice between two gasoline powertrains. The rear-wheel-drive 330 uses a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and starts at $51,250. The all-wheel-drive-only M350 pairs a 437-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six with all-wheel drive and starts at $67,250.

Four Car and Driver editors built their ideal versions of the new sedan. Joey Capparella selected the 330 in rear-wheel drive with Eucalyptus Green Metallic paint, Castanea reddish-brown faux-leather interior, and 20-inch staggered summer tires, totaling $52,750. Drew Dorian also chose the 330 with xDrive all-wheel drive, adding the M Sport appearance package, Ocean Wave Blue Metallic paint, and the Comfort package including a power trunk lid, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and remote start. His total reached $59,900. He added the $1,900 Technology package primarily to access the Harman/Kardon stereo system.

Eric Stafford built a rear-wheel-drive 330 in Black Sapphire Metallic with M Sport package, M-tuned adaptive suspension, 20-inch M Trigon wheels with high-performance summer tires, and a Digital White interior with massaging and ventilated front seats. His build totaled $59,300. Jack Fitzgerald opted for the M350 xDrive in Le Castellet Blue Metallic with 20-inch M Trigon Bicolor wheels and Castanea faux-leather interior, reaching $69,100.

The new 3-series is larger and heavier than its predecessor. Buyers can choose from multiple paint colors, wheel designs, and standalone options for customization.
