ABB E-mobility will outfit 12 new truck charging sites in France for Oreve, adding roughly 100 charging points and 18MW of capacity on freight corridors by the end of 2028. The modular hardware approach allows sites to grow from initial A400 units into 1.2MW hubs starting early 2027, with the first megawatt charging system installation planned for that year.
The expansion extends a three-year partnership that has already delivered six sites, including Vénissieux near Lyon and Bourg-de-Péage between Valence and Grenoble. ABB E-mobility also provides cloud-based asset management, live monitoring and remote support.
The A400 units share 400kW across two charging points. The modular M-Series system adds power cabinets and up to 24 dispensers without requiring rebuilds to the site's electrical infrastructure. This design lets Oreve scale capacity as truck traffic increases and eventually incorporate megawatt charging.
France's national plan targets around 8,000 truck charging points across 560 motorway rest areas by 2035, totaling roughly 1.6GW. Oreve's 18MW represents an early deployment in that larger buildout.
Bruno Bourguet, President EMEA at ABB E-mobility, stated: "Their trust in ABB E-mobility as a partner has allowed us to turn that vision into a scalable solution. Our architecture enables them to expand each site as truck traffic grows, while creating a clear path toward megawatt charging."
