Nissan unveiled the Frontier Ronin concept at SEMA as a heavily modified desert runner built to compete with vehicles like the Ford Ranger Raptor. The truck retains the stock 3.8-liter V-6 but adds forced induction using twin turbos sourced from the R35 Nissan GT-R, mounted in the rear. The engine draws air through custom intakes and cools via a front-mounted intercooler system, with exhaust routed rearward through a NISMO Off Road exhaust with three-inch cutouts. Nissan did not release power figures.

The Ronin's suspension setup emphasizes desert capability over rock crawling. The truck uses the larger Titan's rear axle and suspension as a starting point, then adds a Bilstein Black Hawk package with four-way adjustable coil-overs, internal hydraulic bump stops, and individual damping adjustments for high and low-speed compression and rebound. Custom CJD Racing long-travel components provide four inches of lift, 12 additional inches of width, and 14 inches of suspension travel. The concept rides on prototype NISMO Ascend beadlock wheels and Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tires.
