Mercedes-AMG has completely redesigned the 2027 GT 4-Door around an all-electric powertrain, replacing the previous gasoline V-8 and plug-in hybrid system with three axial-flux electric motors. Two motors sit on the rear axle and one on the front, delivering 1153 horsepower in the GT63 variant, 322 horses more than the former GT63 S E Performance plug-in hybrid's 831 horsepower.

The GT55 produces 805 horsepower, while the GT53 makes 536 horsepower. Peak output figures represent short bursts available during launch control; the GT63's continuous output is rated at 711 horsepower and the GT55's at 503 horsepower. The rear motors provide power under normal driving, with the front motor engaging as a booster for additional traction or acceleration before fully disconnecting when not needed.

Mercedes-AMG claims a 2.0-second 0-60 time for the GT63, matching the speed of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach, which achieved 1.9 seconds in Car and Driver testing. The electronically limited top speed reaches 186 mph.

The body uses aluminum, steel, and fiber-reinforced composites to maintain rigidity and low weight. The interior features carbon-fiber trim, AMG-specific displays, sports seats, and paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The rear seats two passengers as standard, with an optional three-passenger bench. Cargo capacity totals 15 cubic feet plus a small front trunk.

An 800-volt, 106-kWh lithium-ion battery comes standard. Mercedes-AMG claims the 600-kW charging rate reaches 10-80 percent in eleven minutes at a compatible DC charger. A/C charging is limited to 11 kW. U.S. models use the NACS plug, enabling charging at Tesla Supercharger stations.

Car and Driver estimates the GT55 and GT63 will deliver 85-92 MPGe combined, with a range between 314 and 325 miles. Official EPA numbers are not yet available.

The 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster and 14.0-inch central touchscreen run Mercedes' MBUX software. A passenger display screen comes standard, and an optional head-up display is available. Standard driver-assistance technology includes forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

Base pricing starts at $146,550 for the GT55 and $176,550 for the GT63. The GT is 200.6 inches long, 77.1 inches wide, and 55.6 inches tall, with a 119.7-inch wheelbase. Curb weight ranges from 5300 to 5500 pounds.
