The 2027 Ford Mustang GTD carries a starting price of $327,960 and delivers 815 horsepower from a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine produces 664 pound-feet of torque and propels the car to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, according to testing by Car and Driver.
The GTD uses a carbon-fiber body, inboard pushrod suspension derived from race-car engineering, and active underbody aerodynamics. It features a 16.5-inch front brake disc and 14.6-inch rear brake disc, both vented, cross-drilled, and carbon-ceramic. The car sits on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires and measures 193.6 inches long and 81.7 inches wide.
Ford removed the rear seats to accommodate suspension and cooling components. The interior includes Recaro bucket seats up front, a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and titanium 3D-printed paddle shifters sourced from retired Lockheed Martin F-22 fighter jets.
The GTD achieves 12 mpg combined, 10 city, and 17 highway according to EPA estimates. In testing, the car braked from 70 to 0 mph in 132 feet and recorded 1.17 g on the skidpad at 300 feet.
Car and Driver noted the GTD delivers civilized ride quality and supremely balanced handling, though it lacks steering feedback. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 reaches 60 mph in 2.2 seconds and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in 2.7 seconds, both quicker than the Mustang in that metric.
