Gerry McGovern, the former Jaguar Land Rover design chief, lost his driving license for six months after failing to respond to a speeding citation in London. McGovern was caught driving his Range Rover P615 SV at 25 mph in a 20-mph zone on Chelsea Embankment in December, according to Automotive News citing the Daily Mail. He acknowledged being behind the wheel but did not pay the fine or respond to the citation. A magistrate ordered him in October to pay approximately $600 in fines and banned him from driving for six months.
McGovern spent 21 years at JLR, where he led design on models including the new-generation Defender, Range Rover Evoque, Velar, and fifth-generation Range Rovers. He also directed the controversial "Copy Nothing" Jaguar rebrand. He left JLR in December, with reports claiming he was asked to leave, though he has denied this. The speeding citation was issued days after his departure from the company.
McGovern has since joined Norton Motorcycles as chief creative adviser and expressed interest in returning to automotive design.
