Chevrolet redesigns the 2027 Silverado 1500 with new sheetmetal, an overhauled interior, and two brand-new small-block V-8 engines. The refresh marks what the company considers a new generation for the truck.

The engine lineup starts with an upgraded turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder making 350 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. A Duramax turbo 3.0-liter inline-six diesel returns at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet, now with an optional 34-gallon fuel tank for a claimed 900-mile range.

The two new V-8s feature completely new blocks, heads, intakes, and exhausts. A 5.7-liter V-8 produces 402 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. A 6.6-liter V-8 produces 481 horsepower and 501 pound-feet. Both engines use port fuel injection at low rpm and direct injection as throttle input increases. Chevrolet stamped the displacement numbers on the aluminum blocks.

The redesigned interior includes a 12.2-inch gauge cluster and 16.3-inch center screen across all models. Higher trims gain an additional 11.5-inch passenger screen. The system returns Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Google built-in navigation and search functions.

The Trail Boss trim tested here paired the 5.7-liter V-8 with a roughly two-inch suspension lift and 34-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. The truck reached 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 14.6 seconds. Braking from 70 mph required 198 feet. The test vehicle's as-tested price reached $76,795.

The Silverado offers up to 13,700 pounds of maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. The truck can also be equipped with Super Cruise, though automatic lane changes are not available while towing.

Base pricing starts at $40,045 for the 2.7-liter work truck. The 5.7-liter V-8 costs $2,690 extra. Upgrading to the 6.6-liter costs $2,505 for the ZR2 and $2,800 for the High Country, with the latter requiring a 4WD upgrade.
