Zoomlion, a Chinese manufacturer, unveiled the 9DX tractor at the 2026 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition. The machine combines a diesel engine with an 800-volt hybrid electric powertrain to produce 1,600 horsepower and approximately 5,300 lb-ft of torque, making it more powerful than the John Deere 9RX 830, which generates 913 max horsepower.
Zoomlion claims the 9DX reaches nearly 25 miles per hour on any terrain and handles slopes as steep as 12 degrees. The tractor's hydraulic capacity is rated at 168 gallons per minute, matching the top John Deere model. It features an independently suspended cab and 30-inch wide tracks.
The manufacturer withheld specifics about the powertrain, including engine displacement and battery pack size. Zoomlion uses a Cummins X15 variant in other equipment and may use one in the 9DX, though this remains unconfirmed.
U.S. market entry appears unlikely. The author notes that government tariffs on Chinese agricultural equipment present a barrier, and American farmers typically prioritize domestic products. A lack of dealer network and service complexity for a hybrid drivetrain of this scale would further complicate ownership in the United States.
