Production has ended for the Toyota GR Supra and BMW Z4, and national inventory data analyzed by CarsDirect indicates all new units of both sports cars have sold out of U.S. dealer inventory.
Both manufacturers halted production at the Magna Steyr factory in Austria in March. BMW offered a Z4 Final Edition in December 2025 with Individual Frozen Black Metallic paint and a Moonlight Black soft top. Toyota released a Final Edition GR Supra in May 2026 with larger brakes, adjusted suspension, and matte black paint. Toyota delivered 1,300 Final Edition GR Supra units to the U.S.
The sales figures were modest over the six-year partnership. Toyota sold 2,953 GR Supras in 2025, while BMW sold 2,113 Z4 units. Since 2020, Toyota moved roughly 31,228 GR Supra units in the U.S., and BMW sold about 15,282 fifth-generation Z4 models domestically.
Toyota has not officially announced a sixth-generation Supra, though Cooper Ericksen, senior vice president of Product Planning and Strategy for Toyota Motor North America, told MotorTrend the car will likely return. "It would be logical that we would have a next-gen Supra. But when and how is still TBD," Ericksen said.
BMW has no current plans for a sixth-generation roadster. It remains unclear if the company will bring another roadster to market.
