Nissan built the Frontier Ronin Concept for the 2026 SEMA Show as a high-speed off-road truck aimed at competing with models like the Ford Ranger Raptor and Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison.
The truck swaps Nissan's typical naturally aspirated V-6 engine for a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter VQ38DD six-cylinder. Nissan sourced a rear-mounted R35 GT-R Nismo twin-turbo system paired with ECUTEK engine management, a dual off-road air intake system, and a custom exhaust. The company did not release power figures.
Suspension upgrades include a custom Titan Suspension system that increases track width by 12 inches and ride height by four inches. Bespoke Bilstein Black Hawk high-performance suspension adds four-way adjustment with individual high- and low-speed compression, rebound, and bypass damping. Total suspension travel reaches 14 inches. Custom control arms, spindles, and axles complete the setup.
The concept rides on prototype 17-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in 35-inch Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires. A custom high-performance brake kit features six-piston front calipers and two-piece floating rotors.
Interior upgrades include Kinetic sport bucket seats, custom topographic-inspired seat belts, and a triple dashboard gauge pod displaying boost, oil pressure, and exhaust temperature. The exterior adds a new front fascia and grille, custom high-clearance bumpers, wider fender flares, and a front skid plate. Nismo Off-Road accessories include rock sliders, a roof rack, and pillar lights.
Nissan noted the Ronin name means "masterless warrior" in Japanese. The company did not indicate plans to produce this truck.
